Designer - Custom Built

Job Summary:

The Designer is responsible for providing quality 3D renderings and designs to Custom Built's clients, tailored to their needs, by supporting both design work and internal operations, through partnership and collaboration, following the Custom Built process to positively impact families. In addition, the Designer is innovative, self-motivated, eager to learn, and demonstrates strong design abilities. The Designer interacts with a diverse clientele and internal team members. This role requires creativity, excellent communication, and a strong understanding of construction and building permit requirements.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

1. Develops construction drawings, concepts, and 3D renderings utilizing Chief Architect to create photorealistic/lifelike renderings.
2. Designs creative solutions to meet client's expectations.
3. Collaborates with Project Development Advisors to develop design ideas.
4. Conducts field measurements (Step 1 meetings).
5. Guides Step 2, 3, 4 meetings and Alignment meetings.
6. Collaborates with Advisor and Design Manager and confirms project/client selections.
7. Coordinates with other professionals to ensure project success.
8. Provides input as requested during pre-construction and construction phases as requested.
9. Performs design work according to project timeline.
10. Prepares final Construction Plans in Chief Architect.
11. Estimates project cost.
12. Works and collaborates on special projects.
13. Utilizes various computer programs/systems used in design and remodeling activities.
14. Develops and fosters positive and effective working relationships with the senior team, and all team members; and works harmoniously and collaboratively with team members to accomplish organizational objectives.
15. Attends all onsite meetings as required.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Training and Experience:

Minimum of 4 years of experience in residential construction/remodeling industry. Minimum 4 years drafting/drawing experience. Demonstrates mastery in residential measurements to plan drawings. Demonstrates knowledge of construction factors, such as material and labor costs and quality control measures. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction or remodeling activities. Demonstrates mastery of analyzing data, developing budgets, and reporting based on findings. Demonstrates excellent customer service acumen. Ability to work autonomously and with little guidance. Displays the confidence and competence to gain/maintain the organization's credibility. Takes initiative to learn, develop oneself and see things through from start to finish. Excellent interpersonal communication and computer skills; ability to operate standard office equipment. Ability to engage in active listening and communicate complex information to a variety of audiences.

Essential Physical Requirements:

• Ability to converse verbally and in writing with others.
• Ability to utilize general office equipment, Internet and various business software programs (i.e. MS Office, design software/programs, etc.).
• Ability to travel to client worksite and to attend meetings in person as needed.
