Tax Manager

Insight HRM is coordinating a search for a Tax Manager with Sabo Accounting & Tax Services, P.C.

Job Summary

The Tax Manager's role is responsible for all aspects of profitability and successful delivery of tax engagements. Working closely with the Firm President leads and supports the Tax Practice team and prospects for new Tax Client business; and is a member of the Leadership Team. Actively leads all aspects of the tax planning, preparation, and review process for all tax engagements. Also leads the engagement team, oversees all miscellaneous tax projects, and conducts complex tax research to support the client's tax compliance and reporting. Manages client relationships including responsibility for day-to-day client contact. Performs final review of all tax workpapers and returns and ensures that all review comments are cleared prior to filing. Creates plans and budgets and invoicing for tax engagements and ensures completion of engagements within a defined timeline.

Essential Job Functions:

• Reviewing Tax Associate work, submitting tax filings/reporting
• Provide leadership, direction, personnel and coordination of resources to ensure client satisfaction in the planning and execution of tax engagements.

• • Onboard, develop, coach and supervise tax associates.

• Overseeing teams for each client to which they are assigned:
• Developing & maintaining a Client Summary re: workflow
• Delegating tasks to team members, setting timelines, checking work and delivering quality results to the client
• Serving as the primary point of contact for tax engagement clients
• Managing the client engagement letter process, including renewals, by working closely with the President. The Tax Manager will prepare and send all Tax Engagement Letters for the Firm.
• Making visits to clients as needed (virtually and/or in person), to build strong relationships
• Managing Tax Associates time, billable hours, and budgets for all tax engagement clients.
• Conducting tax research and taking the lead on complex, large and high-risk tax client engagements.
• Overseeing 1099 reporting process for assigned clients
• Conducting new client consultations, reviewing prior year returns and preparing tax engagement proposals.
• Performing whatever other duties the Firm President may reasonably assign

Education/Licensing/Certification/Experience Requirements:

• CPA Licensed in Texas required.
• Minimum of Bachelor's degree in business or mathematics, or related field required
• Proven tax management experience including filing returns under own name/CPA license; minimum of 8 years tax preparation and minimum 2 years with final review experience.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet all deadlines
• Minimum of 2 years of previous employee management experience
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, QuickBooks and Sage
• Prior experience with Thomson Reuter products is a plus

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Involves working in an office environment infrequently exposed to extreme temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.
• Sitting/standing at a desk and on a computer approximately 80% of the time.
• Ability to travel to client locations on occasion.
• No unusual physical demands or environmental factors.
• Ability to see, speak, and hear.
