Slusarski is seeking an experienced truck driver with Class A or B CDL license with air brakes endorsement and current MDOT medical card.

Position Description:

The Truck Driver is responsible for verifying and ensuring safe working condition of vehicles, following procedures for transporting materials, ensuring cargo loads are secure, and maintaining logs of work hours related to vehicle maintenance requirements.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Reviews and completes daily MDOT safety inspection report of vehicle and trailer
  • Submits timecards and haul slips daily, including hour meter and mileage reading for preventative maintenance program.
  • Hauls safe loads that are secure and compliant with MDOT codes.
  • Inspects, cleans, and maintains vehicles and equipment according to company standards, with cabs cleaned daily.
  • Performs minor vehicle maintenance such as light bulb and mud flap replacement.
  • Assists mechanic with tire changes.
  • Coordinates with mechanic to schedule truck services and preventive maintenance.
  • During down-time, or as requested, assists laborer, operators, and others with project work.
  • Monitors vehicles for expirations and renewals of license plates, insurance, permits, and blankets.
  • Operates power machinery, such as power rollers, front end loaders, or backhoes and skid steers.
  • Become familiar with machine capabilities and limitations, and with efficient and safe digging procedures in a given application.
  • Observes hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating machines so that work can be performed to specifications.
  • Operates machinery to perform activities such as backfilling excavations, vibrating machinery.
  • Receives written or oral instructions regarding material movement or excavation.
  • Moves materials over short distances, such as around a construction site, factory, or warehouse.
  • Creates or maintains inclines or ramps.
  • Lubricates machinery.
  • Handles pit maintenance and piling of stockpiles.
  • Measures and verifies levels of rock or gravel, materials at storage yards.
  • Drives trucks and machines to work sites.
  • Uses vehicles, tools, and equipment appropriately and according to manufacturer safety specifications.
  • Maintains safe and clean worksite.
  • Works harmoniously and collaboratively with team members and clients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Attributes:

  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Demonstrates Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Proficient at prioritizing and able to handle a variety of responsibilities simultaneously with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Works harmoniously and collaboratively with staff, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to work under stress and deadlines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions required in the line of work.

Education/Certification/Licensing/Experience Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent; additional education is preferred.
  • Must have valid Class A or B CDL with air brakes endorsement and current MDOT medical card.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Involves working in an outdoor environment regularly exposed to extreme temperature, extreme noise, fumes, dust, etc.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to speak, hear, and see.
  • Ability to sit, stand, push, pull, climb, or stoop.
  • Ability to travel to assigned locations throughout the region.
